BeTheParents.org had a minimal social footprint, with just 100 Facebook followers and a few tweets to its name.
To expand its online presence, we launched a Facebook sweepstakes called “Find Their Passion,” urging parents to sign up to win $100 towards an activity registration for their child – an incentive in line with BeTheParents.org’s push to keep kids involved in worthwhile activities. Over the course of a few weeks, we doubled Facebook likes and gained email addresses of parents interested in hearing more from BeTheParents.org. Also, we awarded seven families with $100 for activities like band trips, drug-free youth conferences, and gymnastics. We continue to create social content for BeTheParent.org’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, highlighting the risks of underage drinking, providing parents with ideas for preventing their children from drinking, and sharing profiles of kids who are pursuing their passions instead of drinking.
